PC Speed Up With Remote Computer Support

Speed is the order of today’s generation. The quotation “Slow and steady wins the race” seems to have lost its relevance in the modern world. ‘Fast and furious’ is the demand of Time. Anything related to slowness and tardiness is regarded as primitive and outdated.

Remember the day when you bought your cherished PC, and brought it home for the first time? You started using it for almost every purpose possible, and gradually it became an inextricable part of your life. As time went by, your PC grew old, slow and inefficient.

Slowness is the symptom of a PC, which has not only grown inefficient by time, but also the fact that it is on the decline. This happens generally due lack of proper care and maintenance. But at times it can be difficult for an amateur user to provide adequate care and maintenance, as they require technical knowledge. There are several factors contributing to slowing down of your machine. Some of them are discussed below-

Data overload – You hard drives may display that they are saturated with data, but you know very well that you do not have so much data.

Scattered data – The location of files and folders will get shuffled. You will struggle to locate them.

Presence of Harmful Programs – These are the programs which are specially designed to cause damage to your PC, and they contribute largely to the slowness of your computer.

Start up issues – You may face certain start up issues as well. It might take longer than usual, or some files might fail to load.

Junk and Unwanted files – There will be lots of junk and unwanted files saturating your hard disk, and thereby making your machine slow.

Low on memory – There will be many applications which will fail to open due to insufficient RAM.

How Computers Think

Inside a computer, data and information are stored in a digital binary format. With the term bit we are referring to a binary digit that represents the smallest piece of data. Homo sapiens can understand and remember words, numbers or pictures; computers understand and use only patterns of bits.

One bit of information can have only two possible values. Digit one or digit zero. Therefore, a bit is used to represent only two states. For instance, a light switch can be either On or Off, so in binary system, these conditions would match to 1 and 0 respectively.

PCs use binary numbers to represent letters, numbers and other characters. A universally used code system is the American Standard Code for Information Interchange (ASCII). With this system, every character is created by a string of bits. For instance:

Capital letter: A = 01000001

Number: 0 = 00000000

Number: 255 = 11111111

Character: # = 00100011

Every set of eight bits, like the representations of letters and special characters, is called a byte.

Binary codes are used to represent practically any kind of digital info. With the binary system we can represent computer graphics, pictures, video, music and voice.

As mentioned earlier, one bit is the smallest unit of data. One byte is the most basic unit of digital storage. One byte contains 8 bits and is the smallest unit of measure used to represent data storage capacity.

When we are talking about hard disk capacity, we use the terms byte, kilobyte, megabyte, gigabyte, terabyte, petabyte, exabyte and so on.

One kilobyte contains 1,024 bytes. One megabyte contains more than a million bytes, specifically 1,048,576. One gigabyte is 1,073,741,824 bytes and etc.

Computer Maintenance

Our computers and laptops are just like appliances. Appliances need to be cleaned and maintained in order to work well. There are things in the house that need to be maintained so that you can use it for a long time. Just like our cars, we bring it to auto repair shops so we can see if there are any problems or we simply bring them there for maintenance. It needs to be checked so that we can prevent further damage if there are any broken parts. This is a way for it to work at its best. When it comes to computers, this has to be done also. For it to work properly, you have to do some computer maintenance.

When we use our computers, we can do so many things. We can type, surf the net, chat, send mails, watch movies, download music and other things. Because there are so many things that we do with it, a lot of things can happen also. Since we spend a lot of time online, there could be unwanted programs and applications that could enter our system. Also, since we download different files, there is also a possibility wherein you download files with an unwanted virus. That is why computer maintenance is important so you can see and remove these things.

What do you do when you maintain something? You check every part of the object and you look for all the problems that it may have. If repairs are needed, then you must do all the things necessary for it to be fixed. For the computers, what are things that you need to do for its maintenance? Here are the things you must do:

• Run an anti-virus/computer scan every week if you use your computer often

• Delete all the virus that are found in the system

• Delete all unnecessary files

• Delete files that are unknown or files that is in your system that is not yours

• Remove or uninstall programs that you do not use

• If you use the internet, delete all temporary internet files. Although it can speed the loading time on some websites, it could take up a lot of space in your system

• Have a backup for your files so if you need to delete them from your main computer, you always have a backup
